Some inspiration

On this raining NYC day, I needed some inspiration (and a quick break from work). I just resigned my lease for another year, so that always gets me thinking of new looks and new things to do in the apt. Though, I rarely do them! These all stuck out to me today and gave me a little pop of energy that I needed.

Almost the weekend!

Hey Now

If I had to guess, the streets of NYC will be filled with foam fingered Mileys for Halloween this year. Just guessing but I think I'm going to be right about that one. I had to replay last night's performance twice because I just couldn't quite fathom what I was watching. Yikes!

In other, and definitely less provocative news, here's some photos of my new fern. (told you this would be boring!). I love going to the Columbus Ave Farmer's market on Sundays and little things like this make my room happier and greener.

Hope y'all had great weekends! I tried the new Umami burger in the West Village. It was so good, but like the cronut, I'm not sure if it's worth all the hype. There, I said it.

Just five blocks away from my apartment is the Columbus Avenue Farmer's Market (or Greenmarket). Every Sunday, vendors line up with their produce, meats, flowers, wines, etc. to sell. Right now, it's a great time to go because of summer and the abundance of fresh produce. One of my favorites being peaches.

We probably spent close to $40 but stocked up on corn, peaches (obviously), cucumbers, basil, pickles, spices, tomatoes, blueberries and even a cute little fern for my side table. I will post photos this week.

Because I love all things sweet, I found this cobbler recipe and decided to test it out last night. It was delicious and so easy to make! While I have yet to master the art of taking a food photo, you'll have to trust me that it was tasty.

Below is the recipe in case you want to try it yourself. I swapped out canned peaches for the fresh ones.

Ingredients

1 can (12-14 oz.) peach slices
1 cup (8 oz.) Sprite
1 cup all-purpose flour
1/4 cup sugar
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. salt (optional)
4 Tbsp. light butter, softened

Preparation
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
Arrange the peach slices in a single layer in the 9-inch round glass baking dish. Set aside.
In a medium mixing bowl whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder and baking soda and (optional) salt. Using a fork, incorporate softened light butter to the flour mixture, until it is crumbly.
Sprinkle crumbly flour mixture over the layer of peach slices. Slowly pour the lemon lime soda pop evenly over the peach slices and flour topping mixture. Bake about 40-45 minutes. Let cool about 10-15 minutes before serving 8 servings with a large serving spoon.

I'm not missing...

...I've just been on vacation down in NC. Last day here in the Tarheel state, but I will be back next week with posts and updates!

Until then, I'm soaking up as much southern sun as possible.

Hope y'all are doing great!
