Year of the Weddings

Between all my friends, 2012 has been the year of weddings and celebrations and this past weekend, we celebrated the last one of the year with Allie and Bradley in Charlotte, NC. I've know A&B since before they were A&B. Like many couples I've described before, they are like a sock and shoe - just go so well together. I love them so.

I'm the luckiest girl in the world to have the most amazing friends. I know that everyone says they have the best friends - but I really do. When I'm around them, I feel whole and have been so fortunate to spend so much of my year with them.

We spent the weekend dancing, talking, toasting, crying, laughing, smiling and rejoicing. The one thing I hate about weddings weekends is the fact that they go by so quickly. I didn't take as many photos this time, but here are a few favorites. Rehearsal dinner was at Duke Mansion. It was a gorgeous setting, so pretty in fact that Homeland was filming at the same time!

We gave toasts...

and played games...

And acted silly...

Allie looked absolutely beautiful and was one of the calmest brides I've seen. She didn't tell us what her dress looked like until the wedding day and revealed it to us right before she walked down the aisle. Here it is on camera:

And then they were married...

And we celebrated...

Hard! My parents came to the wedding and said they couldn't keep up with the "young" kids.

Come Sunday, all we could do was this

Here's to another great wedding and marriage celebration! Lo, you're up!

Furbish Studio

Ever since my cousins recommended that I read i Suwanee (a decorating blog) a few years back, I've been wanting to go to Jamie's Furbish Studio in Raleigh. Since I was in town this past weekend, I figured it was time to drop in and check it out.

I loved everything in her store.

From the pillows to the lamps, napkins, jewelry and dogs wondering around the store - I thought it was a great place to find unique things for your home [dogs not included].

She knows how to mix colors, textures and patterns just right so that it all works well together. I even saw her blogging or working or both in the back of the store. Since I read her blog everyday, I got a little star struck and didn't say anything. Is that weird?

Oh, I counted a few things I'd like for Christmas. Hint hint family.

If you're in the Raleigh area, check it out.

NC...

Starting tomorrow, I will get to be in North Carolina for two weekends in a row. First stop is Raleigh and then next weekend is Charlotte, for what I'm sure will be one of the most memorable weddings to date.

Maybe next week I will actually get motivated to DIY those damn kitchen chairs. The fabric is just staring at me, but the couch and reality TV have been winning that battle and my attention.

In keeping with the NC travel theme, here are a few of my Carolina favs from Pinterest this week.

See y'all.

Maine

How did it get to be October? I'm still trying to figure that out because I swear it was just June.

Last week, the family traveled up to Maine for an early 60th birthday celebration for my Dad. We stayed in Booth Bay Harbor at a small resort called Spruce Point Inn. It was the perfect place to relax and unwind and watch the sailboats go by. My dad is a sailor man and for him, this was the perfect present. I'm glad we got to partake too!

The first day we sailed around the harbor on a sunset cruise (though I don't have photos of this oops!). The next day we got up early and took another boat out two hours to Monhegan Island, a small artist community. It was beautiful, even with the rain and storm that we experienced, the lightening was ideal for photo taking. Therefore, I'll let the pictures do the talking...

Later that evening, we sat by the water at the Inn and watched the sailboats go by. I could have sat here for hours...

This makes me laugh. Typical mom on Facebook

Thanks for an amazing trip, parents! Back, next year?
