Weddings and Changes

Lots of changes going on in my life right now - specifically with work. Even though you don't want it to affect your personal life, it's bound to trickle down, given that so much of your day is spent at the office. Change has been a constant word to describe the past couple of years at my company. I like to think that I have taken it all in stride (though better on some days than others). And, as we drove back from a wedding yesterday, I learned - from the great thing called social media - that work is again changing. So, here we go...though I can't get more specific on the blog, maybe I will learn that change is not always a bad thing. I'll keep y'all posted.

In other news (and news that I can actually share in detail), we celebrated another wedding down in VA this past weekend at The Clifton Inn. It was beautiful, despite the rain. And by rain, I mean crazy downpour like I haven't seen in quite awhile. But, we didn't let it ruin our fun.

The ceremony, wedding and reception were all located at the Clifton Inn, so we could walk everywhere, which was great. And, despite the fact that I love being a bridesmaid (yes, I really do girls!) it was great to enjoy the wedding as a guest. The Husband was on groomsman duty...

I helped out with the flowers with my friend Liz and her mom. Little Amelia even helped us and they turned out so beautiful. I wish I had taken more pictures...

We have one more wedding coming up and then we'll be done until early next year. My how time flies and things change!

Pinterest

I have a love/hate relationship with Pinterest. I love the fact that it has inspired me to cook more. I love the quick tips for bettering my life. I love the inspiration for DIY and pictures of pretty things. But, then I hate the fact that my house will never look that perfect and my rooms will never be that put together. It can all be a little overwhelming. I saw this (on Pinterest of course) and it was so true for me.

If you're on Pinterest, then you know the difference between "pinning" and "liking" things. I find myself "liking" things a lot more, but I forget to go back and look at them. So, today I did that and here are a few of my favorite things - in no particular order...

What about y'all? Do you have a love/hate relationship with Pinterest too?

OBX

This morning I had a dream that I left for work with my big puffy jacket and Uggs on. I was so hot in the subway, but kept telling myself that it was cold outside. Not quite sure what that dream means, but if I had to guess, I'm not wanting summer to end. As Stark from Game of Thrones would say, "Winter is coming."

I've been away for a few days, so pardon the lack of posts last week. We ventured down south to OBX - specifically Avon, NC - for some time with the family. Although much of it was spent in the car, we had a wonderful time catching up with the family and my cute little nephews. Bailey dog also tagged along and I caught her sleeping sitting up most of the ride. She can fall asleep anywhere, that one.

On the way down, we stopped by an old favorite, Capt'n Franks, located in Kitty Hawk, for a foot long dawg. These are the BEST hotdogs you will ever eat. I promise.

A trip to the beach without going here, isn't a trip worth having, in my opinion. I've been going here since I was a little girl and Capt'n Franks is our family's favorite place to eat at the beach.

Despite the weather man saying that it would rain all week, it actually didn't and we had beautiful sunshine and evenings like this

We sat on the porch, watched the sun set, then the falling stars and ate watermelon. Can't get much better than that. I wish I'd taken more pictures, but our time just went by too quickly.

Pretty things

Gawh - It's Friday! Happy for the weekend and happy to watch the Olympics. I'd like to thank the swimmers (or should I say their bodies) for motivating me to run last night. Yes, I did eat a chocolate chip cookie on my way to the park, but I ran. That counts right? Lets see if I can keep it up...

I plan on doing a few DIY projects around the apt this weekend. I bought supplies a few weeks ago but then all motivation went out the door. But, that stops this weekend. At least I hope it does...

To get me motivated, here are a few things I'm loving from Lonny now.

Hope y'all have a great one.

Into the Woods

And just like that, it's August, y'all. This summer has flown by.

Last week, "Into The Woods" started its month-long run at the Shakespeare Theatre in Central Park. Tickets are FREE, but very hard to get. I'm trying to snag a couple because 1. like I mentioned, it's free 2. Amy Adams is in it and 3. I've never been. Check out their site for more info. Have y'all been?

On Sunday, I walked down to Columbus Ave. Farmer's Market and bought some tasty Jersey tomatoes. That's not an oxymoron. Jersey tomatoes are goooood.

And, as I mentioned in my summer bucket list here, I decided to make a tomato pie. Nothing more summer or Southern than a tomato pie. It may not look pretty but it tasted pretty. It was also easy to make, which is something that I require when cooking. Here's the recipe that I used. Note, I did not make my own crust. Who has the time for that?

Speaking of Southern and food, I'm quite sick of all this Chick-fil-a talk. I support gay marriage AND when I'm back home, I like to eat Chick-fil-a sandwiches with waffle fries, coleslaw and a sweet tea. Let's just end this discussion (no matter what side you are on) and focus on cheering on team USA in the Olympics. Sound good? Yes, I think so.
