The Huddy's

Until yesterday, or maybe really today, I hadn't quite fully recovered from last weekend's wedding festivities. Though most of us are reaching our 30's, we still pretend that we are 22. Which, as I'm sure you can imagine, leaves us feeling quite rough post-nuptials. But, it was well worth it and I think we'd do it all over again this weekend just to spend time with each other.

I've probably said it here before, but after a weekend with these girl's from college, I feel completely full. They are my rocks and no matter how much you love your Husband, Fiance or Boyfriend, there is nothing like a good girlfriend. Nothing.

The girls post keg stand. Who does that when they are almost 30 - us!?
About ten of us rented a beach house in Isle of Palms, South Carolina - about 15 minutes away from the wedding festivities. It was the perfect space for us and our significant others to spend some time (well mostly the boys since the girls were off doing bridesmaid things). Though the first Tropical Storm of the season showed it's face, we still managed to see some sunshine.

I love weddings but who doesn't really? Having one's family and friends in one place at one time celebrating love is an awesome thing. Lady Gray (as her grandmother calls her) and The Hud (as his friends call him) brought us all back together last Saturday to watch them say their vows. We laughed, we cried. We smiled and we cheered.

One of my favorite memories from their wedding weekend happened towards the end of Saturday night (after I shagged to about 20 beach musics songs). The band played "Piano Man" while the newly married couple danced slowly. After a few verses, every wedding attendee circled them, held hands and sang along. It's hard to describe in words, but it was one of the sweetest things I've seen.

Congrats to The Huddy's on their beautiful wedding and happy marriage. Thanks for bringing us all together to celebrate love.

We're in that stage of life where our friends are either getting married or they're having babies. The Husband and I are somewhere right smack in the middle. Over the next week, we will have seen both. This coming weekend I'll stand beside a college friend as she says, "I do." Last weekend, I held a sweet little baby whose parents are close friends from The Husband's hometown. Two different events (one with more bottles of milk than booze) but both equally amazing to watch from where I stand.

Since I'll have pictures of the wedding next week, I'll leave this post for the baby. Our friends Aaron and Liz welcomed baby Amelia just five weeks ago. As I got ready for Easter service, a text message buzzed, "The Easter bunny is bringing us a baby!" We later learned that Amelia Kay made the Strouds a family of three and this little lady is as cute as they come. As I watched Liz hold her on Saturday, it was just like she's been here for years, part of it all. I can't imagine what life was like without her now. Funny how that happens.

A New App For That

So, if you're anything like me, you use your iPhone to snap photos all the time. I don't remember the last time I pulled out my nice big camera. It's just a convenience thing for me. Well, plus I don't have to lug that big camera around with me. So I guess it's a space thing too. I know that nothing takes the place of a dslr camera, but at least for my everyday use, my iPhone does.

Yesterday morning, I spent some quiet time on the couch reading my BH&G magazine and they had a great article about photos and apps. They recommended the camera+ app, so I bought it (I'm an easy sell). I've been testing it out and so far really like it. It's somewhat similar to Instagram but has this cool clarity function that enhances colors. Basically everything is a lot brighter and truer to color than without it.

Here's a shot that I took with my regular camera phone

And here it is with camera+

Not too big of a difference, but it does have a zoom feature and grid so that your photos don't come out crooked (see aforementioned photo). Though, I think it's grainier.

One of my favorite models. She was not amused.

And our tasty Indian lunch yesterday

Have any of y'all had luck with this app or are there other camera apps that you recommend? I'll be testing this one out more to see if it was worth the whole 99 cents that I spent.

Lately...

Are you still here? No? I don't blame you. I think that was the longest I've gone without writing a post. What can I say, I'm a bad blogger. I wish I could say that I've been away on vacation or so busy that I just haven't had time to write, but none of that is true. I simply didn't feel like blogging. But, now I'm back with a quick update and promises of more to come!

I cannot even remember where I left off but I believe it was before I went here

To celebrate her

We had a blast in Miami and though I wish I could show you more photos, I'm afraid to say that they are not very PG, sorry. I should also say that for anyone going on a bachelorette/bachelor party, I don't recommend flying out at 6:15 a.m. the morning after staying up all night dancing. I feel bad for whomever was sitting beside me on the plane ride back to NYC. It was well worth the lack of sleep though.

The Husband and I also celebrated three years of love for which he bought me these

of which I managed to keep alive for almost one whole day. I'm glad that I can keep my marriage alive longer than I can keep flowers alive. I would be in big trouble if I couldn't. The secret to a happy  marriage? Laughter. Simple, but oh so true. The Husband makes me laugh daily.

To celebrate our 3 years, we went to see 1/2 of our favorite band - Hall &Oates. Though, for this performance it was just Hall. We quickly learned that 1/2 of anything isn't that good and Daryl was missing John. He did sing a couple favorites like "You Make My Dreams Come True" (for which we snuck down to the good seats).

I also had a chance to fly down to NC for a quick visit. I've never once gone home without a delay. Never once. I've been in NYC for six years this month (whaaa?) and that's a lot of delays and time spent at the airport. Though, once I did get home I was able to relax, spend some time with the fam and this guy

So to not make Miss Bailey jealous, here is how I found her the other night

She loves our bed and that blanket. If she could take that blanket around with her, she would. That girl knows how to relax. In the mornings before I leave for work, I always ask her if she wants to take my place and work for me. I would do a good job of keeping the bed warm for when she got home.

Also, it pays to have friends in PR with free product samples. The other night I had my two favorite NYC ladies over for wine and dinner. And, they didn't come empty handed

My friends are the best. We want to write a book together about what it's like to do PR in the city - we have some pretty entertaining stories. Now, if we can ever find the time when we aren't actually doing PR.

Back tomorrow with apartment pics!
