Whisked away to Whistler

Hi friends. Before the week ends, I have promised myself to post about our recent getaway to Canada. It's true what they say, Canadians are nice! Wait, is that what they say? I thought I heard that somewhere...

Over the past couple of months, The Husband and I have been lucky to travel to new places for work. Most recently Whistler, BC. I'm not a cold weather fan, but Whistler was magical, picture Narnia. It wasn't even really that cold. We were lucky. How's the skiing you may ask? I didn't even go! Though I did partake in Après-ski or rather Après- nonski. We also spent the day at the Scandinave Spa. If you ever find yourself in Whistler, you must go here. The view was amazing. We also took the peak to peak gondola (with glass bottom see below!) from Whistler Mt. to Blackcomb Mt. I thought I might pee in my pants it was so scary. And I'm not afraid of heights.

Our last night in BC we traveled back to Vancouver since we flew out early. While not as glamorous as Whistler, we ate some amazing food (they were rated one of the greatest food cities in the world) and stayed at the best hotel. We scored a great price for it on TripAdvisor. I highly recommend it!

Now, I'll let the pics speak for themselves...

Can't Get Enough of Your Love Babe

We just got back from a mini vacation to Canada - more specifically Whistler and Vancouver. The Husband was there for work so I took advantage! Though I'm about ready to hang this winter coat up for the season, it was nice to actually see snow without having to commute in it. I'll post pictures tomorrow.

Speaking of tomorrow, it's the National Day of Luuuve. Or rather, another excuse for women to coax their men into buying them flowers or a nice dinner. We typically don't do too much for Valentine's Day but usually stay at home, cook and exchange funny cards. If I'm lucky, I'll get an orchid that I'll kill in less than a week. Therefore, I doubt I'll get one this year, which is a good thing!

On our trip home yesterday I bought the new issue of Better Homes & Garden and saw some cute ideas that I plan on creating for tomorrow - cheap and easy, but with some cute thought behind it.

What are y'all planning for Valentine's? Do you like the day or just think it's silly?

Commuting

My commute on the 2,3 train was extra long this morning for two reasons:

1. Every 17 year old boy painted blue + every 40 year old male from NJ in Giants gear joined me on the subway headed downtown. I swear they were already drunk by 9:00 a.m. Fortunately I was able to escape at 17th street while they continued on to the Super Bowl parade.

2. An older woman who appeared to be homeless or crazy (or both) walked onto the train, turned on her 1990's CD player and blasted Leanne Rimes', "How Can I Live Without You" while singing along. At first I thought, "How nice," because her voice wasn't all that bad. At the next train stop, she changed her tune - quite literally - and proceeded to yell explicit language to a man with his child including, "I have the swine flu!" At this moment, I darted for the door but the aforementioned Giant's fans were everywhere so I was in for some more singing. Next song up, "She works hard for the money." If only I had taken video...

Only in New York.

A Good Find

A few months back I stumbled across the cute boutique in Chelsea called The Habitat Shop (no relation to the charity). It's filled with affordable clothing, jewelry and home accessories - most of the time they are having a sale, which makes it that much better.

I love this headboard...

I love finding unique places like this shop where I can snag good deals on cute things. It's sometimes hard to find in NYC but I'm always on the look-out.

I recently bought pillows with a geometric pattern for my sofa (sorry for the bad picture) - which go great with my drapes (thanks again mom).

And I just snagged these two pieces, which were 50% off!

If you are in the city this weekend, stop by The Habitat Shop (143 West 19th Street - Between 6th & 7th)

Happy Friday!
