Mother's Day Gift Idea

With Mother's Day just right around the corner (May 9), I have a great and affordable gift idea for you. As you may have read on my blog, I've recently done a lot with my online friend Kelly Bird from Stella & Dot. I'm now hosting an online trunk show this week, just in time for Mother's Day (and not to mention wedding season, graduations, etc)!

To start shopping, just click here and have a look around at a great collection of jewelry. The trunk show will be open through Friday, April 30th. Please select Meredith Worsham's (that's me) trunk show when you shop.

And for all you men who aren't too sure how to wrap presents (my dad included), all Stella & Dot jewelry comes in cute gift boxes, to make it easier on you.

Happy Mother's Day to you moms out there and Happy Shopping!

The new iPhone App Commercial

Have ya'll seen this? It's the cutest thing. I was fast asleep on the couch (cuddling with my Bailey) when this came on the TV and The Husband said, "Wake up - you have to see this!"

They just forgot to ask me for a picture. :)

Parks & Rec

Since Southern in the City and The Husband recently joined the dog club, we have learned quite a lot! It's a whole other world out there with regards to canines and their owners. Exhibit A. The dog park.

We live close to Riverside park. If you don't know where this is, it's the upper west side park near the Hudson. If you've seen the movie, "You've Got Mail" this is the one. (I just love 1990's Meg Ryan, but I digress).
Dog parks are everywhere in NYC. Most people think that having a dog in the city is crazy, but it really is one of the most dog-friendly places I know. Since Miss Bailey is only four months old, we weren't sure where we should take her (big/small dog parks) but quickly learned that she is a tough nugget and loves big dogs just as much as ones her own size.

Our first dog park experience was located at 105th street and was great. It's a large area with many a dogs to play with, big and small. This morning, we ventured down to 87th and met some great new friends. It amazes me that everyone knows the dog names but no one knows the owners. Bailey is the new girl in town and everyone wanted to get to know her. She held her own though and ran for almost an hour today. I think the 87th street park has become a favorite.

If you're looking for a great place to take your pup, check out Riverside Park's dog owner's manual for a map of local dog runs. This weekend we're headed down to the dog park near the Natural History Museum and our favorite hamburger place, Shake Shack. And if any of you have great dog spots in the city, send them on!

One Year Anniversary!!

“I met a boy and he’s wonderful and brilliant and we’re getting marrrrrried,” said the cute little girl in "Father of the Bride." I know you know that line. Every girl who has ever watched that movie does. I’ve always loved this movie and probably watched it a million times growing up, always wondering who I would married, what I would look like on my wedding day and who would be there. Didn't you do that too boys? Ha.

Today is The Husband and Southern in the City’s one year anniversary. We made it. Not that I didn’t think we would but I think for anyone who is married, the first year is a big adjustment. We learned to compromise, listen and communicate differently and more importantly, better.

April 18th was so perfect last year. It is true what everyone says, to have your friends and family in one place, at the same time to celebrate with you is the best part of all. We said last night that we can’t believe it’s been a year. We are so lucky, thankful and happy.

As I type this, the wedding cake is thawing, though I’m sure it will probably taste a little bad. Whoever thought cake after a year would be a good idea?

So, tonight we'll toast and take our first picture for our anniversary album (with a puppy chewing on something at our feet of course). Here's to our first and many more.

And just like that little girl in the movie, I met a boy and he’s wonderful and brilliant and we are married.

Making a Message Board

With a new puppy around, we quickly learned that we cannot keep much out and about as it will be snapped away in a second by a little Miss Bailey. Before our new addition, we always had receipts, to-do lists and other papers just lying around the apartment. I've tried to clip them up on our refrigerator but it was starting to become a bit cluttered and looked like thisSo, I decided to create a message board in the kitchen where we could put coupons, notes and quick reminders that would de-clutter the fridge as well as be out of reach of pup's teeth.

I bought a cheap bulletin board, some white paint and fun contact paper and came up with a message board that matches our green color scheme and keeps things more organized.Total cost was less than $20 - can't beat that!
Stay tuned for something very cool tomorrow, ya'll! Hint: I recently wrote about it and if you comment on the post tomorrow, you might win it! No...not my puppy.

Meet Bailey

The Husband and I had quite an eventful weekend, as in, we adopted a puppy! Our little family has grown to three. I know. We are probably crazy.
Meet Bailey, a 3.5 month old Boxer/Hound mix rescued from Tennessee and adopted in New York City.

Yesterday I headed across the street to PetSmart to try to learn something about raising a pup. "Puppies for Dummies" book quickly became a life saver, as well as a few calls home to get some advice from mom, dad and brother. Now, the crate is up, the toys are out and Bailey seems very happy. I love the sounds of her pitter patter on the floor and her licks to the face.

We've had a few little uh oh's around the apartment (there I go sounding like a momma), but she seems to be getting the hang of things and even slept in her crate without crying too much, though 2 a.m. and 4 a.m. came quite early when she needed to be let out.

So if any of yall have dogs, we do love friendly tips & suggestions, so please send them on.

And a very special Happy Birthday to my grandmother, B! Bailey can't wait to meet you and become the new favorite #1.

Stella & Dot

Everywhere I look someone new is talking about Stella & Dot jewelry. A handful of my Facebook and blog friends have become stylists and many of them are throwing jewelry parties for girlfriends at their homes.

They definitely have some cute and affordable things, especially for the summer. Here are a handful of items that I would love to have. I really love the dogwood ring, especially since it's the picture in my blog header that my brother made (North Carolina state flower).

Casting Call

UPDATE:
I received a lot of responses so thanks yall! I'm just waiting to confirm the final details and will send more info to those individuals soon.

Calling all Southerners! Last week, I got an e-mail from a TV production company in New York looking for two Southern Transplants in NYC to participate in a new show for a big network!

Filming will be this Thursday, April 8th and transportation will be provided. The basic premise of the show is a contest between two couples racing against each other to find hidden treasures (a fusion of Amazing Race meets Antique Road Show is what they told me).

I'll have more information later today. So Southerners, if you live in NYC and would like to be on TV, let me know or send me a message!

Happy Easter!

Happy Easter Weekend, everyone! I think it would be fun to wear an Easter Bonnet like this!

Keys Please

Over the past four years of living in NY, I've accumulated quite a few apartment keys. I always kept them on my key chain (just because) and was recently trying to decide what I should do with them. Then I saw this post about framed keys from the Young House Love blog. How cute.

So, I bought a shadow-type box/frame, laid the keys down and wrote out each address where The Husband and I have lived (his old place, my old place and our first place together). It's a simple, easy and cheap project. But, just make sure that your landlord doesn't need both sets of keys back when you move out of your apartment. I learned the hard way when we were charged for not returning the last key, which cost me $18, after the fact. Whoops! Never-the-less, it's cute and everyone comments on it when they visit our new home.

Check out ours below:
